I cannot believe how much we crammed into a two day weekend. Alex and I met up in Roseburg on Friday night. Saturday, we started by hiking to Hanging Rock. It was a long drive on dirt roads, but in an area neither of us were familiar with, so it was fun to explore.
Alex titled this picture: "Lookin' Bangin' on Hangin' Rock."
Unfortunately, the day took a difficult turn when I got a flat tire and Alex discovered that I was missing a lug nut and some of the other ones were terribly rusted. Les Schwab was able to fix it, but I was really cranky by the time that ordeal was over. We didn't get to our hotel in Crescent City until late that night. Normally Alex and I have an 8 hours of sleep rule (this is why he's one of my very favorite people), but we decided it was worth sacrificing some sleep to spend sunrise among the redwoods.
It was overcast, so we didn't actually see the sunrise, but no one else was there so early on a Sunday morning. Wandering around the redwoods, I felt like my heart would just burst with happiness. "I just feel like singing!" I told Alex.
"Me too," he replied.
"What song do you feel like singing?" I asked.
"I'm in Love With a Stripper by T-Pain," he responded.
After enjoying some pancakes at a cute diner, we stumbled upon what is one of the best hikes I've ever done. And I'm not going to tell where it is. :)
Is it weird that this is my favorite kind of beach? I love when it's hoodie weather... I'll take this over Daytona any day.
The tide came in a little quicker than we expected.
There was just so much to discover on this hike.
I've never see starfish like this before! Is it possible that they were reproducing? That we saw a whole starfish family??
Thanks to our early start, we still had time for a few more stops! Too bad one of them was Walmart because my tire was acting up again.
But then we stopped by the infamous Toketee Falls. It's one of the most famous waterfalls in Oregon that Alex hadn't seen yet. People actually rappel and kayak off these falls! That is absolute insanity to me.
We ended the day with a hike I enjoyed a few years ago, and I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. (Although it was flowing a little more the last time I was there- it was earlier in the season.)
It's not just the waterfall that's pretty; the whole trail is dripping with moss and you go through this tunnel-like section. Such a fun hike! And an all-around fabulous weekend!
