Winter in Willis Creek

I saw a picture on social media of Willis Creek all frozen over, and I became obsessed. The girls and I had plans to go hike it on President's Day weekend, but then my stupid surgery was scheduled for the week before that and I didn't think I could go.  I headed down the week before the surgery for one last adventure on my own. It was magical. It was a winter wonderland. I was so so happy the whole time I hiked. I couldn't believe how much ice there was! Usually there isn't too much water in the creek, so I don't understand why there was so much ice.  I sang Beatles songs. I danced. I pretended to be an Olympic figure skater. You can only tour it once a year, but I still wanted to check it out. Artifacts have been found in there that are dated to 9000 B.C. I tried to find Jukebox Cave, but no luck. And then I drove around the Silver Island Mountains.  (I think this was called Floating Island.) It wasn't the most exciting scenic drive I've ever done. However, it was exactly what I needed that day. It felt so good to be out in the desert, where everything is so quiet and still. A
