Wasatch Waterfall Challenge

Over a year ago, I had this idea to  do a “Wasatch Waterfall Challenge” and visit as many waterfalls as I could in one day. Last month, my plan came together!  Since the goal was to see as many waterfalls as possible in one day, none of our hikes were particularly long. We began with Lower Adam’s Canyon Falls. Quick, easy, and fun hike!  (Yes, my shirt says “Let’s Go Chasing Waterfalls.”) Then we did the Grotto of Hornet Canyon. Probably my favorite hike of the day, although we got lost and hiked in an actual creek and did 1,000 feet extra of elevation. Oh, and I got knocked over by a dog. But the grotto was a such a magic little spot; Ashley and I decided we need to come back with a picnic lunch.  After a break for lunch at Kneaders, we met up with my friend Colby and his wife and baby girl. Actually, I barely know Colby... I met him on this crazy canyoneering trip at Zion years ago, and I haven’t seen him since, so I was excited when he said he was joining us for a hike! Unfortunatel

Benign Canyon

This weekend, I did so many things that were outside my comfort zone, and you know what? It was fine. I was invited to this Canyoneering Chicks Rendezvous, and I really wanted to go, even though none of my friends could join me. I had met the organizer once, but she was really nice so I figure her friends were, too. And I was right! I arrived at the campsite and everyone was super friendly. But I didn’t see Charleen, the only person I knew... and talk around the campfire soon turned to the fact that it was 9:00 and her group had not returned from the canyon yet. A group went out to look for their car at trailheads. When they returned, they had found the car and narrowed it down to a few possibilities. We devised a plan. It was after 11:00 at this point, so a group was going to go into Hanksville and put in a call to SAR. We knew they wouldn’t send anyone at this time of night, but at least the call would be made. At first light, we would split into groups and descend the canyons to loo
