This week...
I found out that a parent came in a few weeks ago and yelled at my principal for two and a half hours, most of which was about me. She had a list of complaints dating back to November. Luckily, my principal knows she is crazy and said, "Ms. C, if you had a problem in November, you should have come to me in November." It's nice that my principal has my back.
I went out to The Spot on Friday because I got a free dinner and drinks for my birthday. Nina and Ken came, and Cyndee stopped by later too, so it was fun to see friends I don't see very often. I told Ken how excited I was to go shopping at Disney World so I can decorate my apartment with more Disney things, and he told me that's a recipe for dying alone. (He's probably right.) I also had four French martinis. I would have had more, but I was starting to feel nauseous. They're just so GOOD! I think that's a sign of being an adult; you don't drink to get drunk, you just really enjoy a good martini.
My little sister came over for the first time yesterday. Given the choice between my house and roller skating, she chose my house. We drove downtown to see the river, stopped at the grocery store, then came home and dyed eggs. Unfortunately, this was no different from any other time I attempt things in the kitchen. When we bought the eggs, I grabbed my usual cage-free, vegetarian eggs, which are brown. This was not the ideal egg-dyeing situation, but most of the eggs turned out all right. Just not as attractive as they could have been. But Khalia has never dyed eggs before, so it didn't really matter to her. We also ordered pizza and watched Hairspray and part of Mary Poppins, which she had never heard of. Can you imagine a kid not knowing the word Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious? So sad. She thought it would be lame, but ended up loving it. Her world is so small, and there are so many things I want to expose her to. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or money to do it all. For example, I really want to take her to see Wicked, but I just can't do that right now. Outings are expensive when you have a kid with you! But it's so worth it; I love being a big sister.
Faye and I went line dancing at DC's last night. Faye was an awesome person to go with because she loves country music, has a pair of cowboy boots, and wasn't afraid to jump in and try the dances. She was looking good by the end of the night, and I am getting a lot more confident as well. I think I'd go just about every week if I could. I don't know why it's so fun, but it is. I'm at the point with some of the dances now where I don't even have to think about what I'm doing; I can just concentrate on looking good while I do them. I've gotten most of the easy dances down, but now I want to learn the hard ones. And I think I could if I had the steps broken down and learned them slowly. The hard ones all go fast, so there's no way I could just jump in and get it. So Faye and I are going to try to start making it to the lessons, and maybe go to some of the lessons at the Willowbrook Ballroom. I know my friends think I'm a freak, but I love it, so I'm going to keep doing it. And most people, after they go to DC's, see how fun it is and don't think I'm so crazy. (Except for maybe Nina.) I'm very excited because next Friday I get to go to a country bar with Becky in Nashville!!!!! I really hope the dances are the same so I can dance there.
