Today was boring, but not bad. Slept in. Had a nice long chat with Angela. Drove up to Hurricane Ridge and found that the trails up there are all snowed in. (Well, maybe not all, but the ones I haven't done yet and was hoping to do.)
I still enjoyed the views from Hurricane Ridge.
I wrote postcards and ran errands and finished reading this fascinating book.
I went to happy hour at this gastropub which was mediocre, but I'm in love with this Kiltlifter Ruby Scotch Ale.
I'm laying in bed and it's 9:10 and it still looks like it's early evening. I love how late it stays light up here.
Oh, and in my previous post, I said that mountain was Mount Rainier, but it's Mount Baker.
I'm camping at the Heart O' the Hills campground, and there are these screaming birds I still remember from the last time I was here. They sound like a really ugly older woman screeching.
I really need a shower.
My new car sucks for camping. I can't sit up in bed and the seats don't lie flat when you fold them down. I have to be back in Portland for some plans on July 9, and I'm already looking forward to my comfortable bed in Paula's trailer. Maybe I am getting too old for this. At least the camping part. I'm getting more and more jealous of people with RV's. I wouldn't want a big one... just one with a comfortable bed. Oh dear God, I can't believe I actually just typed that.
I'm really excited because it was cephalopod week on Science Friday, and I'm going to catch up on those podcasts while I'm hiking tomorrow. I heart Science Friday. I used to listen to it on road trips to Florida.
I have an 8 mile hike planned for tomorrow, but I saw that the road is closed. I'm just not sure how far down the closure is and how far down my hike is. It would be really nice if one of my hiking plans worked out!
